Warning Signs Your Generator Needs Repair

Your standby generator is designed to be there when you need it most, but like any mechanical system, it requires attention to stay in peak operating condition. If you notice any of the following warning signs, it's time to call the professionals at Ready Power USA: your generator fails to start during its weekly exercise cycle, you hear unusual noises such as knocking or grinding, you see visible oil or coolant leaks around the unit, the generator starts but doesn't transfer power to your home, or warning lights and fault codes appear on the controller. Ignoring these symptoms can lead to a complete failure during the next storm — exactly when you need your generator the most. Our team provides prompt, expert diagnosis and repair for Angie, LA homeowners and businesses so your backup power is always ready.

Importance of Professional Generator Service

We use genuine Generac parts, follow manufacturer-recommended procedures, and stand behind our work. Generator Maintenance in Angie, LA

Why Routine Generator Maintenance Matters

Your standby generator sits outside your home, exposed to the elements, waiting for the moment it's called into action. Without regular maintenance, critical components can degrade over time — oil breaks down, filters clog, batteries weaken, and connections corrode. Routine maintenance ensures that when the next outage hits Angie, LA, your generator starts immediately and runs reliably for as long as you need it. Professional maintenance also extends the lifespan of your investment, prevents costly emergency repairs, and keeps your manufacturer's warranty intact. Think of it like regular oil changes for your car: a small investment now prevents major headaches later.

Ready Power USA offers comprehensive maintenance plans designed to keep your generator in optimal condition year-round. Our maintenance visits include oil and filter changes, spark plug inspection and replacement, battery testing, coolant level checks, transfer switch inspection, and a full operational test to verify your system performs exactly as it should. Frequently Asked Questions About Generators in Angie, LA

How much does a whole-home generator installation cost in Angie, LA?

How often does my generator need maintenance?

New Orleans, LA - Unit did not exercise yesterday (Monday) at 3:00 because the date/time was inaccurate, and needed to be adjusted. I performed a hard reset and firmware update on the controller before fixing the date/time settings. After that, I set the exercise for today at 10:30 to make sure it ran, and it ran a full exercise. The unit will now stay on its weekly exercise schedule, and is fully operational.

New Orleans, LA - Unit was getting consistent charger warnings, and hasn’t exercised since 7/28/26. Upon closer inspection, I found the positive battery terminal to be completely corroded to the point that there was no metal left. I replaced the positive battery terminal, and the battery, which was from 2021. The unit is now fully operational, and completed a load transfer test.

New Orleans, LA - Upon arrival, unit was shutdown with a 1300 low oil pressure code. I tested the switch, and when I ran it, the switch would leak oil, so I replaced it. Also, I found that the battery had not been changed at the recent maintenance even though it was over 3 years old, so I changed it out. After replacing the oil pressure switch, I performed a load test to ensure proper operation. The unit ran but failed to transfer to standby, so I began further diagnosis. I found that wire 194 and 23 was only reading 1.6 VDC at the SACM, but when I disconnected 194, it read proper battery voltage. This led me to replace the ISACM, where I found that a lizard had shorted the circuit on the back, which also damaged the ICE cube relay, causing the unit to not transfer. We will need to come back to replace the ICE cube relay. Unit was left in the OFF position.
